2020 has shaped up to be unlike any other. Since Miss Rona embarked on her world tour early this year, we’ve all been thrown a curveball that none of us saw coming. It has meant adapting our lives to the new normal. Staying in more than we ever have before, shelving our travel plans, and perhaps, the most important of the lot – stepping up our personal hygiene.
If you have been following me on Instagram, you’d already know I take no chances with Miss Rona. Even when we were in the early days of the pandemic and travel was not entirely ruled out, I would go as far as wiping down every exposed surface of my airplane seat AND everything in its periphery. Hand sanitisers and wipes fast became an integral part of my everyday.
When I was approached by Cloversoft – who was already my go-to for baby wipes, facial tissues, kitchen towels and anti-bacterial wipes – to design a hand sanitiser holder, I said yes without batting an eyelid. The collaboration might be a 180-degree turn from my usual fashion endeavours but I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to be a part of a meaningful project.
The hope is really to encourage people to carry hand sanitisers on the go and really imbue the habit of sanitising their hands throughout the day. In conceiving the design, I decided on an all-white clinical exterior that felt appropriate for the cause. At the same time, I wanted it to be a tongue-in-cheek expression of everyone’s collective sentiment towards Miss Rona. And what better to embody that than the finger? You know what they say – actions speak louder than words.
Above all, I wanted the hand sanitiser bottle to double-up as a desirable accessory, one that will encourage more people to carry it them when they’re on-the-go. You could hook it onto your bags, belt loop, or perhaps even at the back of your car seat. I can’t wait to see how you guys wear your bottles of sanitiser, remember to tag me on Instagram!
